Research interests

All topics in condensed matter physics are fun, but if I were to name one that attracts me most, it would be mesoscopic superconductivity. It combines the high degree of control that we have over the semiconductors, where it is possible to manipulate single electron states, with a plethora of phenomena that manifest in superconductors and Josephson junctions. For a theorist attempting to combine both requires a combination of cool math with somewhat encyclopedic knowledge of physics and expertise in numerical simulations. The highlight example of the new physical systems supported by these hybrid devices is certainly the Majoranas, a building block for the topological quantum computer.
